Born in Vienna, Mr. Schlesinger has had one of the most distinguished careers in Canadian journalism. His multifaceted assignments have spanned half a century in North America, Europe and Asia, including: reporter for the Vancouver Province, Toronto Star and United Press International. (London) 1955-62; Assistant Managing Editor, European Edition of the New York Herald Tribune, Paris 1962-66; Foreign Editor, Toronto Star 1967; Executive Producer, CBC National News, 1968-69, Head, CBC TV News 1969-70; Foreign Correspondent, CBC, Far East 1970-74; Paris 1974-79; Washington 1979-90; Berlin 1990-91; Chief Political Correspondent, Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (TV News) 1991-94; and, most recently, Foreign Affairs Commentator, CBC Newsworld since 1994.
